Adoption Agency for Birds

Hello – I have to tell you that I love your articles and am glad to be on your emailing list. I do have a problem. I am elderly (74) and in declining health.

I have a blue/gold macaw (Sugar), a double yellow-headed Amazon (Giovanni), and a Nanday Conure (Beatle). Each is 15 years old and was bred and raised by me. Noone in my loving family is fond of birds so I would appreciate your help in finding a bird adoption agency or home for when the time comes. I live in SW Indiana. I would be so appreciative of your help. Thank you – Nancy S.

Dear Nancy

Thank you for the kind remarks. We do try to offer as much useful information as possible.

Regarding your birds, I am sorry you are not well. It is a good idea to make plans for your birds, just in case.

I would recommend contacting a local Bird Club over a Bird Rescue at this time. The Rescues are wonderful, but they are quite full and who knows if they can take them now or later.

Here is one Bird Rescue.

The clubs tend to have a larger membership and can also help you in your situation.

I recommend contacting this bird club, I used to attend their events years ago when I traveled.

http://centralindianacagebirdclub.com they are also on Facebook as Central Indiana Cage Bird Club

They should be able to help or steer you in the right direction.

I wish you and your flock the best.

Thank you
Catherine
