The AviStraint is a safe and humane method of avian restraint. It is used for temporary restraint to allow safe examination, grooming, and other procedures commonly performed on pets, and birds. It can also be used on avian patients post-anesthesia to prevent injurious wing flapping during recovery. Available in 7 sizes each is a solid poplin “clinical” color.

We do not recommend that owners restrain their own bird. Pet birds can become distrustful of owners when handled this way; some birds forgive, others do not. All good parrot-owner relationships are totally dependent on trust. Pet bird owners can purchase them for their own birds and bring them along for their visits to the veterinarian and groomer.
The AviStraint can be used by pet owners in the event of an emergency where restraint is necessary. Perfect to keep in your Bird First Aid Kit.
Use it when your bird is being groomed.
When your bird is examined by a veterinarian, request that she or he use the AviStraint to restrain your bird. Get one for your own bird and take it with you when you visit the veterinarian’s office. Ask your veterinarian if s/he carries and uses the AviStraint.
Use the AviStraint for grooming, performing physical exams, and to restrain for phlebotomy. Also, use it post-anesthesia to prevent the wing flapping that sometimes occurs during recovery.
Keep each exam room stocked with plenty of clean AviStraints. However, some clients may want to bring in their own birds’ AviStraints. Offer them for sale to your clients, and recommend one for each of their birds to bring along when they visit your office.

Use the AviStraint when your customers bring in birds for grooming.
Do not over-tighten the strap. Allow ample room for chest movement to allow normal breathing. Make sure the wings are snug next to the body.
The AviStriant is not intended for long-term adornment or restraint and it should not be used for tethering or flight prevention. It is also not intended for protection against or to deter from feather damaging behaviors and other self-mutilation.
