Customer Review: We have been feeding our parakeets Goldenfeast Australian blend for about 4 years now, We moved to a small acreage where I have a pretty large vegetable garden. I have been taking the feed they don’t eat and put in a large pan of sand for them to forage.  Then I have spread it in parts of the garden.

The chickens love seeds. The sparrows and other little brown birds clean up all the seed heads that I don’t get harvested in time to take to the parakeets. We love the melons and especially the Armenian cucumber that has grown.  Your package says, “cantaloupe seeds,” but we surmise there are actually a good variety of cucurbit seeds.  The parakeets can’t eat them, but we are enjoying their progeny.

The Armenian cucumber is a very large vine growing very large, light green fruit.  From Internet research looking for a source for seeds to grow it intentionally next year, I have learned it is really a snake melon. Sliced thin, salted lightly and dehydrated, they are much better than potato chips.  Also great raw, quick pickled and sauteed with butter, cumin and turmeric.

The chickens cleaned out what looks like it would have been a honeydew if I’d found it first.  There are some Korean melons in another area. Anyway, thank you for the great product and an unexpected bonus.  Marylinda J.
